For Immediate Release

The Calorie Restriction Society International is pleased to announce the establishment of the Calorie Restriction Society Japan (CRSJ). This was announced at a press conference in Tokyo on Tuesday, September 16, 2008.

This news conference was held, following the 8th Anti-Aging Medicine conference in Tokyo, where doctors and other health practitioners joined together to share the latest developments in Anti-Aging Medicine.

Dr. Kazuo Tsubota, Director of the Ophthalmology Department at the Keio University School of Medicine in Tokyo, has taken the lead in establishing the CRSJ. He is editor-in-chief of Anti-Aging Medicine, a Japanese-language journal. Revealing his breadth of thinking, he has developed a new feature of the journal – a preface to each issue, written by people from other countries to provide a perspectives-from-abroad forum. Further demonstrating his inclusiveness, Dr. Tsubota tapped the international organization to lend a hand in the creation of The Calorie Restriction Society Japan. Bob Cavanaugh, CRSI Managing Director, presented to the gathering on Sunday, September 14, 2008, and represented the CR Society International at the press conference on Tuesday, the 16th, when the establishment of the Calorie Restriction Society Japan was announced.

The CR Society International is dedicated to improving human health and longevity through understanding and promoting Calorie Restriction (CR) by –
• Providing basic information about practicing CR
• Running several active e-mail groups
• Acting as a contact point for everyone interested in CR
• Supporting basic research in CR through long-term human studies
• Organizing regular CR Conferences
• Working with the media to inform and educate the public
• Facilitating the formation of regional chapters, helping Society members interact

The CRSI leadership and members are very pleased to collaborate with the CRSJ in getting the word out, worldwide, about the positive effects of calorie restriction. The CR Society is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, based in the U.S.A.
